Key Responsibilities:

We welcome applications for a Research Engineer position in Robotics Vision and SLAM at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The appointment is full-time and funded for 1 year. The selected candidate will join a research group, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, to work on the following:

  • Conduct research, development, and testing of SLAM and multi-sensor fusion algorithms for UAV swarms in GNSS-denied, cluttered environments.

  • Implement LiDAR, RGB-D camera, and IMU data pipelines within ROS/ROS2 for robust state estimation.

  • Carry out flight trials to validate perception modules and refine algorithm parameters.

  • Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to integrate and deploy perception software on UAV platforms.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

  • At least one year of hands-on experience developing or deploying SLAM, VIO, or sensor fusion solutions on UAVs.

  • Proficiency in C++ and Python, with solid experience in ROS/ROS2 and Linux environments.

  • Familiarity with LiDAR/camera calibration, sensor error modeling, and basic filtering algorithms (e.g., Kalman, particle filters).

  • Strong communication skills and ability to document technical work clearly.

  • Experience with vision-based detection and tracking algorithms.

  • Familiarity with UAV dynamics and autopilot systems (e.g., Pixhawk).
