About

Contoro Robotics is an Austin based startup focused on warehouse automation. We design a state-of-the-art autonomous truck unloading system capable of lifting boxes over 60 lbs. As a Robotics Engineering Intern in Automation, you’ll work directly with our robots and camera systems in real-world environments, helping to improve autonomous behaviors through practical development and testing of perception systems used by our actual customers. Join us in developing technologies that really work and robots that solve thousands of logistics problems daily, not just flashy demos.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage end-to-end sensor integration and data stream validation to ensure reliable input for the perception system

  • Work closely with other Robotics or Electrical engineers for optimal hardware setup and power delivery of the sensors

  • Optimize image and point cloud processing using libraries such as OpenCV and Open3D, working with devices like depth cameras

  • Develop high-accuracy perception algorithms to interpret the robot’s environment inside shipping containers

You might thrive in this role if you:

  • Are pursuing a graduate degree in robotics, computer science, or a related field

  • Have hands-on experience with industrial sensors such as 3D cameras and LiDARs

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively — from proposing development plans to running experiments and reporting results

  • Are proficient in Python, C++, and ROS

  • Can work on-site at Contoro’s office in Austin TX, from Sep. to Dec. this year

What You’ll Gain
