Software Development & Operations Director

IntelleKt-EIG has developed and released an environmental data analytics platform to the market. As a growing business and team, we want to continue improving our development processes and delivering a polished commercial offering to our customers.

This leadership role is focused on ensuring our development teams deliver on our business objectives and a product that will delight our internal and external customers. This role will be responsible for driving innovation, managing the end-to-end software development lifecycle, and ensuring the successful transition of products from development to market. In addition to the product deliverables, this role is tasked with achieving operational excellence, with a keen eye on continuously improving productivity through a positive culture that aligns with our values, by improving our software development best practices, and by developing people to be the best they can be. In addition to this, implementing ISO compliance, SOC2 certification and other operational procedures are important to our business and must be implemented and managed to enhance productivity and quality. Additionally, this role ensures that each release includes full commercialization deliverables, such as training, documentation, and support collateral.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

• Provide leadership to our development team that inspires and motivates toward achieving our goals in alignment with our product vision
• Ensure the structure and processes deliver the maximum possible results
• Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of software products ensuring development best practices are adhered to so that a high-quality product is delivered at all times
• Hire A+ team members and ensure the professional development and growth of individuals
• Ensure all staff that are inwardly focused get to client “sites” where the product is used to understand the market better and usage better

Operational Excellence:

• Reporting and development of KPIs that demonstrate productivity and improvement.
• Continuous improvement of our development and agile processes.
• Implementation and adherence to ISO and SOC as appropriate.
• Development of new processes that improve productivity and quality.
• Oversee resource allocation and ensure the software development team has the necessary skills, tools, and processes to meet deadlines and deliver quality products.

Production and Release Management :

• Ensure development delivers on all aspects as directed by product management.
• Ensuring our customer production servers and in-house servers are rigorously managed from an SLA, cost, and security perspective.

Risk Management:

• Identify potential risks to product development and commercialization and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure timelines and budgets are adhered to while managing any roadblocks that may arise during the lifecycle of the product.

Performance Metrics & Reporting:

• Establish KPIs to measure product performance post-launch, and provide regular reports to senior management on progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Commercialization:

• We are also looking for someone to join our organization who is well-versed in the commercialization of software. We suspect that few, if any, candidates will possess this skill set; however, strong preference will be given to candidates with holistic commercialization experience that includes:
  • defining proper product packaging & market positioning,
  • assisting with feature definition beyond the core technical requirements to ensure the product delivers on the package expected by the market,
  • understanding deliverables beyond the core product to deliver a total experience for the customer, including training materials, support materials,
  • identification of all collateral needed for a release and
  • ensuring all other market-ready requirements beyond the product is complete and release-ready.

What You Bring:

• Related bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years experience
• Knowledge and awareness of B2B Saas and industrial markets
• Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle, agile, and test automation
• Strong experience with SDL tools and technologies

Other Knowledge and Skills:

• Organized with the ability to multitask and work towards tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, balancing conflicting priorities.
• Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including effective presentation and facilitation techniques.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Strong knowledge of the SaaS market and ability to lead teams to success.
• Exposure to the environmental sector or related fields of engineering or construction is considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

• Normal office environment that requires sitting for extended periods of time.
• Prolonged exposure to computer keyboards and computer screens.
• Manual dexterity required to use laptop and peripherals.
• Sometimes requires long hours of work.
• Some travel to other MEMS offices or event locations may be required on occasion.
