Summary
The Robotics / AI Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and implement Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and cognitive automation solutions to meet the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s (BEP) operational needs. Working under the guidance of the Lead Robotics/AI Software Developer, this role supports the delivery of up to 10 automations per year, integrating intelligent technologies such as machine learning (ML), chatbots, and intelligent character recognition (ICR). The Robotics / AI Software Engineer will follow Agile, DevOps, and BEP Enterprise Lifecycle (ELC) standards to ensure high-quality, secure, and scalable automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for RPA and cognitive automation solutions, from requirements gathering to deployment and operations.
  • Develop automation workflows using UiPath Studio and manage deployments through UiPath Orchestrator.
  • Implement integrations with cognitive tools such as AI/ML models, chatbots, OCR/ICR, and natural language processing engines.
  • Support the migration of automations from desktop/laptop environments to server-based or cloud-based platforms.
  • Perform unit, integration, and user acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet BEP functional and security requirements.
  • Document solution designs, workflows, test results, and deployment steps in accordance with BEP ELC and security guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Program Managers, and Security Specialists to refine requirements and address technical risks.
  • Troubleshoot automation issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Follow DevOps and CI/CD practices to ensure continuous delivery and maintainability of solutions.
  • Stay current with RPA and AI technology trends, recommending new tools or approaches to improve BEP’s automation program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years developing and deploying RPA solutions, preferably on UiPath platform.
  • Knowledge Areas: RPA workflow design, UiPath Orchestrator operations, AI/ML integration, cognitive automation tools (OCR, ICR, chatbots), Agile development, and DevOps processes.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain clearance as required by BEP; must meet High Risk position requirements under HSPD-12.

Preferred Qualifications

  • UiPath Advanced Developer Certification (UiARD) or equivalent RPA certification.
  • Experience with REST APIs, SQL databases, and enterprise system integration.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud deployment in AWS or Azure.
  • Programming experience in Python,or Java for developing custom automation components.
  • Exposure to document processing and data extraction frameworks.
